SOUTH DUNDAS – One person is deceased after a tractor rolled over in South Dundas.
On Mon., Sept. 29, 2025, at approximately 6:00 p.m., members of the Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry (SD&G) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Cornwall-SD&G Paramedics responded to a scene on a trail near the intersection of Caughnawaga Road and Forest Road, northwest of Williamsburg in the Municipality of South Dundas.
People who had been walking on the trail had come across a tractor with an individual pinned underneath. The male was pronounced deceased at the scene. He has been identified as a 79-year-old from South Dundas Township.
According to the obituary, which was published by Marsden McLaughlin Funeral Homes, Beat Schraner, 79, had left his home on Schrader Hill Road on his tractor the evening of Sept. 29. The accident occurred a short time later.
The initial investigation by the SD&G OPP and the OPP TIME (Traffic Incident Management Enforcement) team found that the tractor had left the trail and rolled over, pinning the operator, resulting in fatal injuries.
The funeral was held at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Morrisburg on Tues., Oct. 7 at 11 a.m., with interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Morrisburg. A celebration of life was held at the Morrisburg Legion following the funeral service.
