KEMPTVILLE – In a recent press release, it was noted Haleigh-Jo TePlate of Finch Ontario and Aiden Dennis from Markdale recently received  2022 Kemptville College Alumni Scholarships.

Haleigh-Jo is the daughter of Henry and Kenda TePlate near Finch. She has been an active member of Stormont County 4-H, Stormont-Glengarry Junior Farmers and Stormont County Fair Board in addition to working on the family farm.

Haleigh-Jo continued to qualify for the scholarship, applicants had to be in the second year of an agricultural or food related program, have a family member, friend or employer who graduated from Kemptville College of Agricultural Technology, with her father being a graduate of KCAT. She mentioned writing an essay and answering some questions were also part of the application process.

After graduating from the Business in Agriculture program at Algonquin College, Perth Campus, Haleigh-Jo plans to continue her agricultural education at Olds College in Alberta.  As for her future plans they include “becoming a third-generation farmer on the dairy and cash crop family farm” as well someday owning “a small herd of beef cows.

Haleigh-Jo commented how pleased she was to receive the KCAA Scholarship as it gave her an opportunity to receive a piece of KCAT history as she was not able to carry on the family tradition of graduating from KCAT.

Aiden Dennis, from Markdale Ontario, is the other winner of the 2022 Kemptville College Alumni Scholarship.  After graduating from the Business in agriculture program at the Perth Campus of Algonquin College, he plans to return to the family farm to work alongside his father and grandmother.
