The Perth campus of Algonquin College offers a Business – Agriculture (Co-Op Option) program. The first registered students of this program are now nearing completion of their first semester.

Martin Savard of Algonquin College says the response from agricultural businesses looking to hire a co-op student have been “overwhelming.” The Algonquin website notes “agribusiness managers are required to make decisions about crop/herd selections and improvement, pest and soil management, equipment maintenance, farm safety and agricultural production.”

Students who wish to advance beyond high school or those training for a second career should take a serious look at this program. The demand for employees in the agricultural sector is high. The co-op program option gives participants the opportunity to work in the field prior to graduation.
