EDWARDS – There are two ways of looking at this: If it is Father’s Day, then we should be at Stanley’s Tractor Jam, and if we’re at Stanley’s Tractor Jam, then it must be Father’s Day. The two just seem to go together.
June 21, Father’s Day 2026 featured the fifth annual Tractor Jam at Stanley’s Olde Maple Lane Farm in Edwards, and once again, it was a beautiful day, and an opportunity as so many have found, to spend some quality time with dad.
The event was hosted in partnership with the Carleton County Jr. Farmers, and this year all the proceeds were destined for Carefor Hospice Cornwall in memory of Randy Woods
From all reports, Randy Woods was a local guy, who grew up on the Springhill Road in nearby Metcalfe, Ontario. He was described as a hard worker who always had a smile on his face. He loved to have fun and was drawn to tractor pulls and could frequently be found at local fairs pulling International Tractors along with the Carruthers family.
Sadly, Randy lost his fight with cancer in June 2025, and with recognition of the care he received from the Carefor Hospice Cornwall, it was thought only fitting to connect the two at this year’s tractor pull.
Earl Stanley explained how it came about. “Randy was a puller here, and last year, during the pull, he called me, and we asked about the pull. And a day or two later, he called me and says, do you always do this for charity? Would you consider doing it for Cornwall Hospice, because they really, did a great job taking care of him. So, I said that’s what we’ll do.
“I asked the junior farmers,” continued Stanley. “Enough of us all knew Randy growing up. They all agreed, and all the parents did, their generation, you know. He was, Randy was a good friend of ours growing up.”
Terri Burnett is a member of The Carleton Junior Farmers. “It’s the community coming together,” said Burnett. “We love to see everybody come out and put a smile on the faces, and at the root of it, we raise money for whatever good pause comes up that year.”
At the end of the day, it was announced that $3,589 and change had been raised, which, when you consider that admission is by donation, that is impressive. It is all possible because of the agriculture community and how they work together, donating time and services in order to make the return as substantial as possible. Auctioneer Stewart James has been doing the announcing for each of the five years the event has run, and he agreed that it is difficult to say no when Earl Stanley calls, because you know something good is being planned.
“The event is just made up of young farmers,” said James. Which are the best people in the world. And it’s just generation after generation. And the current junior farmers’ organization is a picture of that. Some of them are farmers, some of them are not but they just make it happen.”
The tractors are obviously the main event, but there were a lot of other things going on as well, such as touch a truck, antique cars, and farm equipment, and you can’t forget the food, things like burgers, fries, hot dogs and don’t forget the deep-fried pancakes!
Stanley’s Old Maple Lane Farm is located at 2452 York’s Corners Road, in Edwards, and while today the draw was the Tractor Jam, you’ll usually find something special happening.
