WINCHESTER – Community Food Share welcomed over 40 employees from Lactalis Canada on Sept. 16, 2025, for a special volunteer day dedicated to fighting food insecurity in Dundas and Stormont Counties. It was Community Food Share, however, that received a much-appreciated surprise.

In addition to volunteering their time, Lactalis employees presented Community Food Share with a $5,000 donation, an unanticipated gift that will go directly toward providing nutritious food for local families.

Throughout the day, employees rolled up their sleeves and participated in activities that reflect the day-to-day work of Community Food Share. The volunteers assembled rice meal kits, role-played as both clients and volunteers shopping for a family of three, sorted food bags, and folded Fill-A-Bag donation bags. These hands-on activities gave the Lactalis employees a first-person, meaningful look into the challenges and impact of food banking.

“We were absolutely surprised and deeply touched by Lactalis Canada’s generosity,” said Lynsay Rainey, Director of Operations at Community Food Share. “Their cheque presentation was unexpected and will make a real difference for families in need. Combined with their time and energy, it shows how committed they are to strengthening our community.”

The volunteer day was supported by Mayor Tony Fraser, himself a Lactalis employee, who continues to champion local community initiatives and encourage partnerships that benefit residents across North Dundas.

Community Food Share operates locations in Winchester and Morrisburg, as well as a satellite site in Finch, serving hundreds of families across Dundas and Stormont Counties.
