CARP – With fair season underway, life has been busy! Achievement Day is right around the corner, taking place Sept. 26 at the Carp Fair.
I will be entering the leather belt crafted back in February with the West Carleton Leather Club. The belt features detailed carvings of patterns and flowers, showcasing the skills learned this year.
The West Carleton Foodgrains Club will also be showcasing their hard work. Each member is submitting a soybean sample from the club’s 13.5-acre plot located just off Carp Road. In addition, members have teamed up to create posters highlighting what they’ve learned about soybeans. With a partner we are working together to design a poster on the many ways soybeans are used in everyday life.
The West Carleton Barn Quilt Club will also be displaying their achievements. Barn quilts will be hung in the exhibit hall alongside other 4-H and community projects. Be sure to keep an eye out for my entries. (hint: it features the colours yellow, green, and black!)
I will also be showing a Foley Simmental heifer in the Carleton County 4-H Beef Achievement program. All of us Carleton County members will be showing our beef and/or dairy heifers on Fri., Sept. 26, in the Carp Fair show barns. Stop by to see us all in action!
Final Note: My Go For The Gold team welcomed two new members! With fresh energy and lots of studying, the team went undefeated heading into the championship round. It was a tough match against Frontenac, but Carleton came out on top! Congratulations to the team, and best of luck at the Royal Winter Fair in November! Looking forward to seeing everyone at the fairs in the coming weeks!
