The Eastern Ontario AgriNews writes profiles of one of the many Eastern Ontario women in agriculture in each edition.
From farmer to agribusiness professional and everywhere in between, women play a major role in agriculture.
This edition of the Eastern Ontario AgriNews profile is highlighting Shawville, Quebec farmer, Ursina Studhalter. Ursina farms with her husband, Andrew, part-time raising sheep. Full-time, she works for Welch LLP in Renfrew as a chartered professional accountant.
Originally from Huron County, both Andrew and Ursina decided to move to the Ottawa Valley a few years ago. Ursina has been involved in the organization connecting young farmers from across Ontario called the Junior Farmers Association of Ontario and being involved with such a great organization, combined with some family in Eastern Ontario drew Ursina to move east.
They are loving Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec.
Ursina joined the Eastern Ontario Women in Agriculture group when it first started earlier this year. She is a current member of the Upper Ottawa Valley Women in Agriculture group but wanted to connect with more women across Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec, so she joined the Eastern Ontario Women in Agriculture group.
Ursina writes a blog called Farming Frontiers which makes understanding farm financials much easier.
