Like kids in a candy shop, the desire to need something grows as that special item comes up on the auction block. The VITEO toy auction brought some pretty high prices for these toys during the 2023 action. Vogel Photo
OTTAWA – Carson Hill, president of the Vintage Iron and Traditions of Eastern Ontario (better known as VITEO) shared with AgriNews the group’s passion for, and their desire to preserve, early rural technology.
This group has a membership of over 150 people looking to display and preserve the history and of rural agriculture.
At the Ottawa Valley Farm Show, they will have a room dedicated to antique tractors and equipment, as well as quilts and memorabilia.
VITEO also has their annual toy tractor that will be available during the farm show. This year the model tractor will be a 1/16 scale of the Ford 8N. There is a limited edition of these toy tractors available for sale.
The limited edition tractors will be numbered from 1 to 100. The tractor with the 1 will be donated to the Ottawa Valley Seed Growers seed auction to be held at the farm show.
This is a terrific opportunity for collectors to grab a special item for their collection.
David Brown will be showcasing his Ford 8N in the foyer of the EY center during the farm show as well.
The group will be hosting their annual meeting on February 11 and at that time they will further their planning for the funds raised by these events.
If you enjoy looking at equipment from years gone by, make sure to visit the VITEO display at the farm show and take a walk down memory lane, or maybe you just want to see how things used to be done. There is always someone from this group present to explain what each item would have been used for.
